Jabber allows employees to use their University phone number from a computer or mobile device.   Please note:

  • Only employees with a dedicated phone line can use Jabber. Employees who only have a voicemail box are not eligible.
  • All office lines are provisioned with Jabber to use on your computer. However, if you want to use the Jabber on a mobile device with the mobile app, you will need to submit a request and select Cisco Jabber Request. 
  • To request a new phone line and Jabber, complete the New Line Request form.
Windows Mac
  1. If off campus, log into VPN
  2. Click the Start buttonWindows Start Menu
  3. Type Software Center 
  4. As you type, Software Center will be found - click Software Center

  5. Click on Jabber under the Applications section
  6. Click Install
  7. A shortcut will be created on your desktop; double-click to open Jabber
  8. Enter your NinerNET credentials and click Sign In

    If you are off campus, you will need to enter your complete email address - <username>@uncc.edu

  9. You can now use Jabber

  1. If off campus, log into VPN
  2. Open the applications window and select Self Service
  3. Click the INSTALL option for Jabber
  4. When the installation is complete, you should see the Jabber icon in your dock. Click Jabber to open
  5. Enter your University email address and click Continue
  6. Enter your NinerNET credentials and click Sign In

    If you are off campus, you will need to enter your complete email address - <username>@uncc.edu
