As part of the process to add addresses to University email accounts, your default send as address will be changed to an address.

  • If you do not have an email alias, the default send as will be
  • If you have an email alias (, the corresponding will become your default send as address.
    • In the above scenario, your address will not automatically be added as a possible send as address.  If you need to be able to send from your address, follow the below steps.
  • If you do not have a address, no additional actions are required - your address will be your default send as address.
  1. While in Gmail, click the gear icon then See all settings

  2. Click on the Accounts tab
  3. In the Send mail as: section, click Add another email address
  4. In the window that opens, type your address in the Email address: field then click Next Step
    Enter username email address

    Your name should already show in the Name field.  The Treat as an alias checkbox should remain checked.

  5. You will now see your address listed in the Send mail as: section

    If you already have as your default send as address, you will not be able to permanently set your address to the default. The default send as address is administratively synced which will overwrite any change you try to make to your default send as address.
