You can use an annotated assignment type to upload a file for students to annotate and submit directly in Canvas. Students can use the DocViewer's annotation tools to annotate the file
Keep the following in mind when using Annotated assignments:
- cannot be used for group assignments
- assignment enhancements do not support student annotation assignments
- not currently supported for mobile devices. If you want students to be able to annotate a document via the mobile app, they should also use the File Uploads submission type and provide the original file in the assignment description for students to download and annotate in the app
Accessible Considerations
The DocViewer is not accessible - screen readers and other assistive technologies will not work with it
